The festival of All Saints calls us to rejoice in all the saints: those who have died and now rest in Christ, those who live now, and those yet to come. We are reminded that in holy baptism God unites all the faithful — in our church on earth and in heaven.
A special service has been planned for our Sunday worship at Salem on Nov. 3 where we will be remembering the saints in our lives. We will light a candle for and name each of the members of our congregation who have died and for everyone who has been baptized since the last All Saints Day. Everyone will have the opportunity to light a candle in remembrance of a loved one. If in the last year you have a family member who has died or been baptized and would like to have included, please sign up on the form in the baptistry.
You are also invited to bring a small framed photo or memento of a loved one who has died to place in the windows around the church as a reminder that we are always “surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses.” (Hebrews 12:1) Please join us for this very special day.
