Epiphany – Jan. 6

Epiphany is on Sunday this year, and we will have opportunity to celebrate this festival in our Sunday worship.

In the western branch of Christianity, Jan. 6, is traditionally the day to celebrate the Magi and the star which led them to Jesus. It is a festival of lights and also an opportunity to celebrate that Jesus Christ came for all people in the world.

The Scripture texts for the day celebrate the coming of the light and the power of the light to draw us to God. Isaiah calls on us to arise and shine, to see the people gathering from all nations in the light of God. Matthew tells the story of the magi from the East following the light of the star to pay honor to Jesus, the new king.

Please join us at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6!
