Effective August 1, 2016, there will be a new schedule of activities and worship on Sunday mornings at Salem. The new schedule is:
8:30 a.m. – Men’s breakfast
8:30 a.m. – Informal, 30-minute bridge service with communion
9:15 a.m. – Sunday education classes
10:30 a.m. – Liturgical worship
Salem’s Council made the decision to make the change after holding discussions in council and conversations with congregation members over a period of several months. Council plans to evaluate the new schedule and suggest additional changes in the future.
Key considerations in the decision were to:
- unify the congregation in worship as we move toward finding a new permanent pastor,
- have worship at a time that is attractive to people in the community who have an interest in joining Salem,
- have a bridge service to accommodate work schedules and other extenuating circumstances that prevent attendance at the main service, and
- allow Salem members to be more open to additional changes that a new permanent Pastor might suggest.
