Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church will be 60 this Friday, Feb. 20!

On Sunday, Feb.  22, Gulf Coast Synod Bishop Michael W. Rinehart will be with us at both Eucharists — 8 & 11 a.m. Between the services, we’ll gather in the Parish Hall for a festive Brunch and Program celebrating the 60th anniversary.

All are welcome to celebrate with us!

After meeting first as a cottage group in the Westwood home and on the lawn of Pastor-Developer Myron K. Blackman and his family, Salem officially organized as a mission congregation of the United Lutheran Church in America (ULCA) on Feb. 20, 1955. The first service was at Shearn Elementary School on Stella Link.  The congregation later built and worshiped in a house-chapel (now Trafton Academy), on McDermed at Cliffwood in Willow Meadows, until the first unit (now our Parish Hall) was dedicated on West Bellfort in December, 1959.
