Salem Serving Day – Oct. 12

“What is Salem Serving Day?”

Salem Serving Day is a day that is set aside for every person in the congregation to participate in some form of service activity in and around the community. Salem Serving Day is set for Saturday, Oct. 12, and will include different projects to benefit organizations and people in and around our community.

We will meet in the nave at 9:00 a.m. for a short worship service before heading out to project sites.   All of our projects will be off site except the Gift Boxes for First Responders.  Please also note that the Willow Waterhole project can be physically challenging.  Sign up sheets are on the table at the back of the sanctuary.  Sign up now for the project you want to help with!

Lunch will be provided at Salem at noon.  Please wear one of your Serving Day t-shirts from previous years.  If you need a shirt, please contact the church office.

Projects that will be held this year:

  • Quilt Making for Houston Hospice
  • Books Between Kids (sorting books for school age children)
  • Gift Boxes for First Responders (assembling boxes and delivering them to local fire and police stations)
  • Willow Waterhole (digging, mulching, plant trees)
  • BIM Resale Shop (straightening up and cleaning the BIM shop)

Remember, service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one our most basic convictions as Lutherans:  that all of life in Jesus Christ — every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life — flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.
