Salem Serving Day – SATURDAY, Oct. 14

Salem Serving Day is a time set aside for all members and friends to work in our community.   Below are some Q’s & A’s.  If you need additional information, please contact [email protected].

When is the event? Saturday, Oct. 14

Worship service is at 9:00 a.m. in the Nave, followed by volunteer service (maps will be distributed for offsite projects), and lunch at the church around 12:30 p.m.

Will we have t-shirts this year? We don’t have a 2017 t-shirt. We invite everyone to wear one of their serving day shirts from previous years. If you need a shirt or would like a new one, please contact us at the link above.

What projects can I choose from?

  • Willow Waterhole (digging, mulching and trimming trees at an outdoor park)
  • Books Between Kids (sorting children’s books in a warehouse. Note: The warehouse is not air conditioned.
  • Quilting (contact [email protected]) for information.
  • Grace Place (assembling hygiene kits at Salem, dropping them off at Grace place, cleaning the clothing closet at Grace Place).
  • Free Wheels Bike Collection (collecting bikes in the church parking lot and guiding donors to the parking lot).

Why was the nursery cleanup project removed from the list? This project was removed because of the flood damage to the building.

How can I sign up? Sign up sheets are on the table in the baptistry.

Do I need to sign a release form? Parents will need to sign a release form for children under 18. Participants in the Willow Waterhole project must also sign a form. These can be done on the day of the event.

Can I get service hours for participating? Yes! Students can get credit for four service hours. Please contact us at [email protected] to register.

Bandaids, handwarmers, heavy duty water bottles, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, razors and shaving cream, toothbrushes and toothpaste are being collected for Grace Place. New and gently used children’s books are being collected for Books Between Kids. A donation box is located at the baptistry.
