Salem Serving Day Summer Collections

Salem Serving Day is an opportunity for every member of Salem (and friends of Salem) to be involved in some act of service during the morning on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Listed below are the items we will be collecting for this year’s Salem Serving Day. Each week during the summer and early fall, we will focus on collecting specific items, but you may bring them at any time and place in the boxes in the Fellowship Hall.

We will be collecting material and supplies for lap quilts. The quilts will be given to Houston Hospice and the fleece quilts will be given to Dan’s House of Hope. Dan’s House of Hope provides a home away from home environment for adolescents and young adults undergoing cancer treatment in Houston. Children’s books will be collected for Books Between Kids, whose focus is on low-income children in the Houston Independent School District. The children will receive six books at the end of school to encourage them to continue to read during the summer and to create a home library. The rest of the items we will be collecting will go to Grace Place, who assists homeless youth in the Montrose area.
